Voices: Life, Work, and Retirement

Introduction to the Series

As I approach retirement, I often reflect on my life and wonder what my younger self would think about the path I’ve taken. Would she be surprised by how things turned out, and what observations might she offer me? Similarly, if I could share any wisdom with my younger self to guide her journey, what would I say? I believe others have these same thoughts. Sometimes, all it takes is someone to ask the right question, create a safe space, let the person truly consider their experiences, feel their emotions, and speak their truth.

I’m interested in hearing from people approaching retirement, especially about how they feel about this transition and what their life reflections mean to them. I set out to connect with these individuals, create space for open conversations, and, with their permission, share their stories. I believe it’s essential to recognize that we share more similarities than the distractions and noise around us suggest. Deep down, we’re all simply living our lives to the best of our abilities and hoping that we have mattered in this world.

I hope you enjoy reading Voices: Life, Work, and Retirement—the first interview in the series will be published here on November 18, 2025. If you would like to share your own journey, please get in touch. It would be an honor to feature your story and help inspire and connect others through it.
